Feb 2008 Newsletter

Just as Summer is ending and Autumn is now approaching, we too are preparing to enter a new season in our lives. This is the wonderful adventure of parenthood! We’ve heard about what it is like from many people, but often feel as though we still have little idea of all that is involved in having a very small person to care for. With just three months of pregnancy remaining the anticipation and excitement is rising!

Since we last wrote, Vicki’s belly has grown considerably, to the point where some days putting on socks is a challenge. The affect of pregnancy on Vicki’s memory has also been seen. She’s been known to drive to the wrong client’s house, use the wrong oven setting (resulting in crispy food) and lose important items such as car keys on a regular basis. Apparently this problem is a scientifically proven phenomenon. Is there any hope of improvement after the baby is born we ask??? Some weeks ago our baby started making small fluttering movements once in a while and now there is definite kicking and rolling around happening every day in there! Yong talks to the baby every day, often coaching on good sleeping patterns needed after birth. I guess we’ll soon find out if this little one has been listening!

The year so far and soon to come….

January was relatively quiet but we did enjoy attending the wedding of some friends and a visit to Vicki’s parent’s house. Vicki’s Dad is kindly building a storage unit in his large shed, for the times when we need to store furniture and other belongings. February started with a trip to the lovely town of Beechworth for Vicki’s sister’s wedding. It was a beautiful weekend and a great celebration.

Yong has continued work at Gippsland Aeronautics, surviving the heat of summer in the hanger. He has been studying very hard for an upcoming flight evaluation test and instrument rating renewal for his pilots licence. Yong is planing a more intensive study and training period in Melbourne for the first three weeks of March. During this time he will hopefully pass all the tests he needs to at this stage. Once this step is completed it will allow us to proceed with our application to work with Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Vicki has been enjoying being part of an expanding program at work. It involves supporting community agencies to get groups of people together to cook nutritious and economic meals in a relaxed social environment. Last week one of the three dietitians in Sale left to travel overseas. Until her position is filled, things could be quite busy at work. Vicki is also preparing to finish work in seven weeks, after which time she plans to focus on her big test – childbirth and motherhood!

For those who pray for us:

  • Give thanks for a good pregnancy so far
  • Pray that we will enjoy these last months of being ‘two’ and preparing to be ‘three’
  • Pray for Yong’s study and tests during March
  • Pray for Vicki’s health during these last seven weeks at work and for the successful recruitment of two new dietitians in Sale.
